Meet Raine

Hi! My name is Raine, and my foster mom says I am just the most beautiful and sweet Maine Coon mix cat she has ever fostered. Not only am I beautiful, with the biggest eyes you have ever seen, and with the softest fur, I am also very, very gentle. I don’t use my claws or even love bite though I will give you kitty kisses. As soon as you start to pet me I roll

over so you can pet my belly. The best is when you pet my cheeks, ears, and under my chin too. But what I truly love the most, is being brushed. As you can imagine, with my beautiful fur, it does need to be  rushed occasionally. Luckily, I think it is just the best and please feel free to brush all of me, ears, head, back, tummy, tail, etc.

I might initially present as shy, quietly observing, but just call me over and here I come. Not sure what my back story is, but before I came to my foster house, I didn’t talk. I purred, but was silent, just twilling when it was time for my kittens to eat. My foster mom kept talking to me even though she was met with silence. Finally, after being with her for about 7 weeks, I uttered my 1st meow in response to her greeting. She was so excited! Now, I do talk, still quietly, and my foster mom thinks once I’m in my forever home, I’ll become more and more vocal.

I like being picked up, carried around and held. I’m also starting to like being a lap kitty though I still prefer just lying next to you. I think it’s a little bit like my talking, just things I have to get used to, but once I do, I’m all in. Since I do love to be petted, I will nuzzle you as my way of saying ‘I love you’.

Even though I’m only around two years old, I don’t think I’ve had much in the way of toys or people playing with me. I do see my kittens actively playing with wands and other toys, having a blast, so that too might be something I would get used to. I’ am a fan of cardboard scratchers.

I do like to watch birdie shows on TV when I am just hanging out, so a TV or window hopefully isn’t too much to ask for.

I’m not sure how I am with dogs or other cats, but I am very easy going so possibly with a very slow introduction, I would acclimate to having other animal buddies. I loved being a mom and my adorable 4 kittens are just as sweet as I am.

Luckily, they got my personality. But I am now ready for my forever home. I am a true food lover and would appreciate someone who agrees with how incredible food is. My foster mom keeps telling me, I am soooo pretty and am truly something special and she will miss me so much, but knows I’ll be happy in my forever home, once I find it.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
