Meet Thistle & Sable (*bonded pair)
Sable (1 yr old) and Thistle (baby) are an inseparable mama-baby pair looking for a calmer home without dogs where they can love their people as much as they love each other.
Sable is calm and easy to handle even though she sometimes looks like an angry muppet. She was a great mom to her three babies, even nursing them until they were three months old! She was an avid bird hunter in her wild days, so she’s obsessed with feather toys. Sable loves to hide in the shadows to ambush her prey. She likes to perch in the cat tree to watch over Thistle and whatever antics the humans are up to. Because Sable used to live outside, she’ll need a patient and knowledgeable adopter to gradually challenge her to come out of her shell with regular play and social meals.
Thistle is a spunky little kitten who isn’t afraid to voice her complaints. She’s inquisitive and adventurous, so Sable always lets her try new things first. Churu treats and play are the quickest way to her heart. Like her mama, she loves feather toys, but Thistle use more backflips to catch her prey. She likes to play hard during the day, but when it’s time to rest she always cries for snuggles with her mama. She sometimes likes to sneak in a snuggle in the human bed when she thinks the humans are asleep. Thistle needs an adopter who will patiently expand her horizons with play and stolen snuggles.
Sable and Thistle need a predictable home. Although they’re easy to handle and not aggressive, they would not respond well to children. Sable and Thistle don’t have good kitty communication skills, so ideally they would be the only cats in the home. They’re both independent cats, so they need humans who can be consistent with affection and socialization to fully bring them out of their shells.

All pets adopted from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation include the following as part of their adoption fee:
- Spay/neuter or a certificate for a low-cost spay/neuter when medically recommended
- Microchip and registration, a permanent identification to reunite lost pets with their owners
- Initial de-worming and flea and tick treatment
- Age-appropriate testing for heartworm/FIV-FELV
- Age-appropriate vaccines
- Pre-adoption medical exam
- A certificate for a free healthy pet exam at one of A.R.F.’s participating veterinarians within 7 days of adoption
- Offer for a no-risk 30 day free trial with Trupanion pet medical insurance
If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
