Meet Thistle & Sable (*bonded pair)
Sable (Born 5/2024, black fur) and Thistle (Born 3/2025, tabby) are an inseparable mama-baby pair looking for a calm home where they can love their people as much as they love each other.
Sable is calm and easy to handle. She was a great mom to her three babies. She is obsessed with feather toys, hiding in the shadows to ambush her prey. She likes to perch in the cat tree to watch over Thistle and whatever antics the humans are up to.
Thistle is a spunky little kitten who is inquisitive and adventurous. Like her mama, she loves feather toys. She likes to play hard during the day, but when it’s time to rest she snuggles with her mama. She sometimes likes to sneak in a snuggle in the human bed.
Sable and Thistle will need humans who are consistent with affection to fully bring them out of their shells.
If you are interested in meeting Sable and Thistle, you can find them at A.R.F.’s cat center at the Wheaton PetSmart.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
