Meet Sonnie

Hi everyone! In honor of summer, I would like to formally introduce myself to all of you. My name is Sonnie and I am a handsome, 2-year old orange and white cat. My foster mom sometimes refers to me as “Chef Sonnie” because I spend most of my day making biscuits with my paws. I truly would be the best baker in town.

So I’d love to tell you a bit more about myself. I am a lover of all and would be honored to join your family. I am fine with friendly dogs and other cats. I have never been around children but would be happy to meet your kids to see if we get along! I love staring out the window, playing with stringy cat toys, and napping in my cat tree. As you can see from my pictures, I absolutely LOVE to stand on my foster mom’s computer to convince her to pet me instead of doing work. I am truly a lovebug in every way.

One thing that I’d like you to know about me is that I’m FIV positive. This means that I have a condition known as Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. Although it has a similar concept to HIV in humans, it cannot be transmitted from cats to people. Additionally, research has shown that cats with FIV can lead completely normal lives. We just try to stay away from bacteria and situations that can make us sick, since our immune system doesn’t work quite as well as normal cats. If you already have an FIV+ cat at home, I would love to join your family and have a feline friend. But I would also do well in a home with no other cats. If you have any questions about FIV positive cats or if you’re wondering if I’m the right cat for you, please contact ARF and they would be happy to talk to you about my condition. Cats with FIV often get a bad rap and I am here to prove that FIV+ cats can live long, healthy life filled with just as much love and biscuits as other cats. Plus, as an extra benefit, at my vet visit to get all of my vaccines, my foster mom said that I was very chill and loving, which is pretty uncommon for cats. I truly just loved the attention that the vet and vet techs were showering me with!

Thanks for reading my bio. Hopefully I was able to teach you a bit about FIV today! I am really looking forward to finding my forever home and I do hope that you will visit me. Happy summer everyone!

  • Microchip and registration, a permanent identification to reunite lost pets with their owners
  • Initial de-worming and flea and tick treatment

  • Age-appropriate vaccines
  • Pre-adoption medical exam
  • A certificate for a free healthy pet exam at one of A.R.F.’s participating veterinarians within 7 days of adoption
  • Offer for a no-risk 30 day free trial with Trupanion pet medical insurance

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
