Meet Burton
Hi everyone! This is Burton checking in. I’m a silky black and white cat and I am ready to find my forever home! I am the most perfect lap cat who would literally just sit in your lap, criss-cross-applesauce, all day long if you’d let me. Anytime my foster mom has a spare minute, I love climbing into her lap and looking around before snuggling in for a long relaxation session! You can see a bunch of pics on this page of me being adorable while sitting in my foster mom’s lap. I also have a huge love for any type of wet food. When you look at me, I have the most brillant green eyes that are sure to stun whoever looks at me. I am really looking for any home that can give me much-needed and much-wanted pets every day!
I would do best in a home with only adults because I can sometimes get a little nippy with sudden movements or when I’m being picked up. I wasn’t treated very nicely by my first owners and I get scared when I’m lifted into the air, which is why being picked up isn’t my favorite thing to do. I know it sounds weird that I love climbing into laps but don’t love being held up but I promise that I still crave allllll of your attention. I am great at being convinced to go places with just a little bit of wet food or Churus, so my foster mom hasn’t had any trouble getting me to go to the vet with her. If you want to meet me, please stop by the Naperville PetSmart or fill out a form on the ARF website today!
Burton is microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained. Burton’s adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting Burton, please fill out our Online Application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
