Meet Wrigley

Wrigley is a 7 month old male Rottweiler mix who weighs in at 32 pounds.  This pup's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below.

Hi!  I’m Wrigley!  My Mom was a Rottie, and I never met my Dad, but he must have been one handsome dude, because I sure am!  I am 7 months old, and sweet and gentle as can be.  I am housebroken.  I had a couple accidents my first couple days at my foster’s house, but we think I was just nervous and needed to understand that outside is the only place for certain activities.  We got that straightened out by day 2, and I am a champ now! I love to be petted, and will sit by my foster and let her pet me or rub my neck for as long as she wants. We can play with toys and “fight” over them, but I never growl, or bite or even nip!  I really like to lie in the sun.  I love the outdoors!  And boy, does my fur ever gleam in the sunlight!  I love to run, and we spend a lot of time chasing balls!  I often tire of it before my foster does, so I just won’t bring the ball back, and she catches on.  Sometimes I tease her by bringing it back, but not giving it to her – that’s fun!  I am still learning to walk on a leash.  I am not real excited to do that, so I guess I need more training.  I am a good eater, and sort of a messy drinker, but I am still a kid, you know!  I am not bothered by other dogs or cats.   I am still deciding if I like kids, so to make me more comfortable, I would like it if they are a respectful 12 or older.  When anyone new first meets me, it helps if we take it slow.  Once I have had the chance to get to know you, I’m a people puppy, and love to be with you!

I don’t like to be left alone, and I do moan, howl and cry a bit when my foster leaves or goes to bed, but I have never been destructive and she says that is an awesome attribute!  Well, to be honest, I did chew up a couple towels and things she put in my crate to keep me comfortable the first day or two, but I leave the cushion and my blanket alone.  I like to go in my crate and rest, but I don’t like to be locked in there.  I handle it, but not happily.  My foster has tall gates on both the entrances of her kitchen, so when she leaves or goes to bed, she leaves me in that space and I just sleep in my crate (after I express my disappointment a bit, of course!)   I was surrendered by someone who kept me in a crate all day long, and we both ended up pretty unhappy with the situation.  I understand that people have to work, but I think I would be much better off with someone who works from home or at least can be with me more of the day.    All in all, I am one handsome, awesome, wonderful pup who would love to join your family and be your loyal companion!  Let’s meet!

This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
