Meet Tamale

Meet Tamale, a beautiful and loving three-year old gal who is as irresistible as her namesake. Her story is one of resilience, with a dash of wanderlust. She was discovered exploring the streets of Chicago before finding her way to animal control where she waited for months to be rescued. That’s where ARF came in. Initially, Tamale was very shy and not ready to let down her guard. With a little time and patience, she’s truly blossomed into the perfect mixture of playful energy and laid-back cool, making her the ideal plus-one for binge-watching, book-reading, or simply chilling out.

What sets Tamale apart is her zest for life and love for company. She’s likely to bond closely with one person in the house and is just as likely to be their shadow, helping (or supervising) all household tasks, as she is to be found sunbathing by the window.

While Tamale has grown to love the other cats and dogs in her foster home, a slow and proper introduction is necessary to ensure she feels safe. Her time on the streets has also made her food insecure, and she will jump up on surfaces to inspect your leftovers (or try to snag a bite of another pet’s medicine) so it’s important her forever family keeps a careful eye on anything that might be of interest to her and keeping medications out of her reach.

Tamale would be happiest in a home with someone who is patient and knows that the best things in life are worth the wait. Her foster mom can attest to her Olympic level snuggles the cuteness of her zoomies, and how she relies heavily on the confidence of the adults in the house to let her know that she’s safe. Tamale currently lives with two large dogs and two adult cats – she prefers lounging with them vs. playing with them and is overall low-medium energy.

Tamale is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered and litter box trained. Tamale's adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting Tamale, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
