Meet Clarabelle
Clarabelle is a real life hero of a cat! She kept her 6 kittens alive and well for 8 weeks on the streets of Chicago while still being pretty much a kitten herself. When a rescuer visited the empty lot she was raising her kittens at- she collected them all and ran over to the carriers asking for help like a true protective mom.
Clarabelle has a TNR ear tip because at first the rescuer thought she may have to be returned to the outdoor life. However, I was able to take Clarabelle and two of her babies into my foster home and another volunteer took the other 4 babies. As soon as Mama Clarabelle realized she was safe and could relax she slept so peacefully it was beautiful to witness. She did her job as a mom and now it's time for her to be someone's baby! She is just a young girl- 1 year or younger but with the heart and soul of a mature cat who really knows how to appreciate the warmth and safety of a loving home. All of her babies are black and white like her (except for one orange boy!) so they all have cow themed names. Clarabelle is sweet and gentle and always ready to approach quietly for pets and snuggles. She looks up at you with her striking green eyes and just brings an air of calmness and peace when she is near. She can't wait for the next chapter of her journey where she finds herself with her forever family happily ever after.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
