Meet Abigail

Abigail is an almost 3 year old female Am Staff mix who weighs in at 55 pounds. This dog's adoption fee is $300.  If you are looking for a mature, trained, well mannered young adult dog, this girl is a gem!

Abigail was  originally adopted from ARF in May of 2023 as a baby. She was born in Tennessee March 8, 2023 as part of an unplanned litter. Her current family named her Indy, and here is what they would like you to know about her:

Meet Indy

We adopted Indy from ARF when she was about 9–10 weeks old, and she has been raised alongside our three children ever since. From the very beginning, she showed a gentle, intuitive temperament and quickly learned how to be calm and careful around babies. She has truly grown up as part of our family.

Indy was house-trained almost immediately and has never had issues with accidents or destructive behavior, even when left home alone. She is well-mannered, respectful of the home, and incredibly easy to live with.

She loves getting out to the dog park, running, and burning off energy. With our increasingly hectic schedules, she hasn’t been able to get as much outdoor time as she deserves, which is one of the reasons we believe she would thrive in a home that can offer regular activity and space to play.

Indy is not aggressive at all. When someone knocks or rings the doorbell, she may give a soft bark or low grumble just to let you know someone is there, but she is very friendly with visitors. In fact, her biggest “issue” is that she loves people a little too much and tends to greet them with lots of kisses.

She is affectionate, gentle, and loves to cuddle, but she has also learned how to relax and simply be content on her own. She has never had any significant health issues and is in great overall shape.

As a Staffordshire, Indy is naturally loyal and protective, especially with children. She would do best in a home with kids to love, a family to watch over, and an active lifestyle that gives her the outdoor outlet she needs.

This decision comes with heavy hearts. We are relocating, and our new landlords do not allow pets. With our fourth child on the way, we need the additional space, making it impossible for us to keep her.

Abigail is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and spayed.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
