Meet Gizmo
Hi, I’m Gizmo, a beautiful girl that my foster family affectionately calls a “jack of all trades!” I am, first and foremost, a professional window watcher but I also dabble as a couch warmer, TV supervisor and bedtime snuggler. I found myself at Chicago Animal Control after my beloved owner passed away - it was a sad and confusing time but I am SO happy to be with ARF now. I know they will help me find a forever family to spend the rest of my days with. The shelter listed me as a senior girlie, but the vet thinks I am much younger - like 5 or 6! I’m healthy and playful - what more could you ask for?
Although I arrived with my sister Mittens, I sort of like having undivided attention so I’m looking for a home of my very own. You see, after what I’ve been through, I just want to find my people - the people I can give my happy chirps to and who don’t mind if I give them kisses every night - and I don’t want to share them with any other kitties!
I currently live with two young children and I’m gentle with them (but my favorite people are the grown ups). I may also be tolerant of cat-savvy dogs who understand that I like to be in charge. If you have a cozy space, a sunny window and room in your heart for a snuggly little sidekick, I would love the chance to be your loyal companion. With a bit of patience and a lot of love, you’ll soon find yourself wondering how you ever managed without me in your snuggle squad.
Gizmo is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and litter box trained.
Her adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting Gizmo, please fill out our Online Application today!
Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
