Meet Missie

Hello Everyone. My name is Missie. My owner rescued me from the streets when I was very young and I lived with him for almost 13 years, just he and I. In the last several years, he was blind so he was at home with me all the time. One day he was very sick and an ambulance came and took him away. He never came back. For over a month I was alone in the apartment except for a nice man that came and gave me food and water. I was scared so I did not let him near me.

At last this man and my future foster mom came to rescue me. She took me to a lovely room in her house where she gave me plenty of time to decompress and get used to her and my new surroundings. After a couple weeks she began to pet me and it felt so good that it wasn’t long before I was jumping on the bed and rolling on my back to ask for cuddles. I sleep with her now and love it. She said I am so sweet that she would keep me, but her other 4 cats are not very welcoming.

My foster mom says I will do best in a quiet home where someone is around most of the time. It may take a little while for me to settle in but she says I am really worth it. I am a beautiful diluted torti with medium hair. Even though I am about 14, the vet said she would have guessed 8-10 because I am in such good condition. I am spayed and up to date on my vaccinations so I am now ready to find the home where I can be loved and give love for the rest of my life. Because I am still skittish of new people I will be available for adoption from my foster’s home after an application has been approved.

Are you the one that will open your heart to a sweetie like me?

Missie is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and litter box trained.

Missie's adoption fee is $135.  If you are interested in meeting  Missie please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

  • Age-appropriate vaccines
  • Pre-adoption medical exam
  • A certificate for a free healthy pet exam at one of A.R.F.’s participating veterinarians within 7 days of adoption
  • Offer for a no-risk 30 day free trial with Trupanion pet medical insurance

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
