Meet Mack & Binx (Bonded Pair)

Meet a special pair of adult cats, Mack and Binx! They haven’t always known each other, but they have formed a bond and would love to live their lives together in a forever home.

Mack is a handsome 13-pound, black (with a tiny white tuxedo) male cat that will turn 2 years old in the fall of 2022. He came to ARF from southern Illinois as a scared youngster that hid from people.

Binx is an 8-pound, tortoiseshell female cat that will turn 3 years old in the fall of 2022. She came to ARF with her litter of kittens from an animal shelter in downstate Illinois. Binx was a fantastic mom and raised a litter of homeless kittens after raising her own kittens. After her two litters of kittens were adopted, she met Mack.

Mack and Binx became acquainted with one another in their first foster home before they moved to a second foster home in order to get a change of pace. The new foster family members visited the cats, but it was a few weeks before Binx allowed anyone to pet her, Once she let people pet her, she liked it! Mack slowly became more social, coming out of hiding when people were around. One day, Mack willingly allowed someone to touch him for the first time. Since then, he has become a funny, friendly cat who waits for the door to his foster room to open so that someone will visit him. He flops on the floor, waiting for someone to pet him. Both Mack and Binx are accepting of the men, women, and teenagers that they have met.

Mack and Binx have come a long way since they first arrived at ARF. Now they are searching for a quiet home with someone who is patient and willing to except their quirks.

For example, reaching out to catch Mack scares him, and he much prefers to come to you. If you sit down, Mack will walk over to you and ask to be petted. You can then pick him up and put him onto your lap.

Binx is more of a sit-near-you type of cat. She is leery of strangers, so if you choose to meet her, don’t be offended if she doesn’t let you pet her. It will take time for her to get to know you.

Both cats, especially Binx, like to sit in a tall cat tree. They like to sleep in the same cat bed and they like to look out of the same window. They usually eat at the same time. Both cats like catnip and chasing the laser pointer. Mack especially likes ping-pong balls, while Binx prefers toy mice.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
