Meet Duke

Meet Duke

My name is Duke and I'm a 1.5 yr old Yellow Lab mix who weighs in at 53 pounds. I am house & crate trained. I am a perfect gentlemen in the house and I like to put my front paws on your lap and have you stroke my head, ears, & whisper sweet nothing in my ears. I rub my head on your lap & tuck my head into your chest because I love you.

My fosters have left me at home by myself in my crate and I wait patiently for them to return. I enjoy when they take me for a car ride and the window is rolled down.

I love playing with squeaky toys, beware - I can really destroy them - they're so much fun!

My training before meeting my fosters included: sit, stay for a little bit, come, give paw, & high five.

I listen very well in the house and only chew on my own toys, especially squeaky and stuffed. A Kong can keep me entertained. Sometimes I like to hide my treats in my crate, covering them with my blanket.

I have leash-reaction and often don't make a good first impression, but give me a chance & you'll love me. If I don't know you, I'll likely bark.

I'm a curious dog, always looking around. I am very strong. When I see a squirrel or another dog, I want so much to go near them. Another foster dog, Bert, and the foster's dog, Marshall, are my best friends, but it took a short while for us to realize it.  I would love a back yard to play freely & have my buddies come over. And ARF agrees with me - so my new humans need to have a fenced yard for me to play in and do my business.

I came to ARF Heartworm positive.  I have had all of my treatments and am fully recovered.  I will have no negative health effects from it.

I am ready to give you my love and loyalty!  Fill out an application so we can meet and become friends.

Duke is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered.  His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Duke's adoption fee is $350.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Duke fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
