Meet Gypsy

Hello, I’m GYPSY.  I was living outside, got pregnant, then rescued and had my babies indoors.  The foster didn’t try to socialize me so I’m still sort of scared of humans.  I love other cats, and tolerate people.  I’ve gotten better at that in my second foster home!  Once I get used to you, I won’t hide as much – but I’ll never be brave.  If other cats are around, I’ll come right out to mingle.  My ideal home has multiple cats, no kids, and a kind, patient adult or two who will let me take my time getting comfortable.  I’ll sometimes rub against your legs, just to ‘mark’ you with my scent, not to ask for petting.  I’m pretty playful and LOVE feather wand toys.  I’m good at catching the feather in my mouth mid-air!  I like a window spot where I can watch bird and squirrels.  I sometimes sit beside my foster mom when she’s working in her office, but it spooks me if she moves too fast.  She talks softly to me and says, “It’s ok; you’re safe.”  I’m really sweet, just scared .. and I really NEED a home.  My wonderful foster mom can tell you all about me.  Just fill out an adoption application online at www.arf-il.org (no commitment) and they will call you!  **

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
