Meet Amigo
Hello, my name is Amigo. I’m a 4 year old 54 pound lab who is very friendly with humans and dogs. I like every person I meet, so much so that I bark loudly with excitement! Everyone who meets me says I’m such a good boy. I've been to the vet for some visits and everyone at the vet loves me - who wouldn’t love such a sweet boy like me? I just finished getting treatment for heartworm. I need a month for recovery but I can still go to my forever home, I just can't run or get my heart rate up for 30 days. After that month though, I am good to go with no negative health effects! I just need to get my monthly heart worm preventative like every dog is supposed to have.
I’m completely housebroken and I’m allowed to roam free in the house when there’s nobody home - my fosters have seen me through the camera when left alone or with my foster siblings and I spend most of the time sleeping. One thing I do first thing in the morning is to come to my foster mom’s room while she’s sleeping and put my nose on her face to let her know I need to go outside. I’m crate trained in case it is needed, but I’m very well behaved. I know the sit command and I am learning to be patient when a treat is handed to me. I really, really, I mean really, love food. Sometimes I get too excited and try to jump or get my foster’s finger. Smaller children will likely not like this about me, so it's probably best if only adults or older children give me the treats. And I am an opportunist - if food is left unattended or within easy reach I will help myself! Hey, what can I say? I told you - I love food! I have also been working on walking on a leash and have improved a lot. I do very well on car rides. When I see someone walking by the house I do like to bark to say hi and let them know I'm here. Overall, my foster mom says I am a very smart and super easy going boy.
I love to be with my humans! I like to cuddle, give kisses, and get belly rubs. I like to think I’m a lap dog; when someone is sitting on the couch and they call me I just climb and sit on their lap to get lots of love and attention. I don’t know how big and strong I am and sometimes will jump to get attention, but if you tell me to "stop" and "sit" I will do it so you can pet me while telling me I’m such a good boy. I really love to hear that!
I’m an energetic boy - hey I’m still young - I love to play and go for walks. Again, for now I have to take it easy for a month cuz of heartworm treatment. I will make a great companion and I promise I will give you all my love and loyalty! I can be your furever “Amigo” (friend).
Amigo is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered. His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.
Amigo's adoption fee is $400. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Amigo fill out an Online Application today!
Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
