Meet Flora

Flora was originally adopted from ARF as a puppy and she finds herself in need of a new home.  She is one of the sweetest, 80-pound cuddle bugs you’ll ever meet. She is about 18 months old.  Issues have come up between Flora and older female dogs.  The family was advised that now that Flora is an adult,  the two females likely will not stop vying for top dog position in the household.  The family has made the painful decision to rehome Flora and keep their first family dog.  Flora has been fabulous with both the children and her human parents since day one.

She’s a huge lover of the outdoors - she lays on her dog bed outside for hours basking in the sun & honestly enjoys the winter months even more.  She knows a number of basic commands (sit, wait, lay down, settle - her word for a cute side sploot) and is very treat motivated to learn more. She absolutely loves cuddling up for some belly rubs and her favorite thing in the world - head scratches.  At times, her  abundance of love for you may manifest in her jumping up when you first come home but she settles down in a few moments.

This abundance of love for you is also a reason she would prefer to be the only dog in the house - she doesn’t want to share her humans.  (Nor did her older canine sister, making that the only reason her adoptive parents had to make the painful decision to rehome her).

There is currently a 60-pound child in the home that she also loves equally to her human parents.  She has never been around babies, toddlers, etc in her home and during the Covid ban to any semblance of a social life.  She would live her best life with a family that understands she still is playful and with the energy of a 2 year old dog and one that enjoys outdoor activities.  She would love to go on long walks,  jogging, hiking or running - she loves any form of exercise, as long as her human(s) are with her. If not, a good fenced back yard will be a great, needed space for her to be able to run and play  in.  Inside the house, she understands that there are 2 speeds—indoor speed and outdoor speed.  Indoor speed involves naps, cuddles and snuggles.   She personifies the definition of companion animal.

This pup is micro-chipped and up to date on all vaccinations, housetrained and spayed.  The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  The pup's adoption fee is $325.   A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
