Meet Peach

Peach ( aka Mama Peaches, Princess Peach and beautiful) is a 3 year old little lab mix who weighs approximately 45 pounds. When Peach arrived (with her single newborn puppy), she was very timid, easily startled, and slow to trust.  Now in the house, we see few remaining signs of what a scary previous life she must have had.  She adores having people sweet talk her, being sung to,  and lavish her with affection.  Loud sounds will still startle her, but she regroups quickly after a few soft words and a loving gentle scratch on her muzzle or ears. She is completely and totally non-aggressive.  If scared by something/someone, she retreats from situation.

We do feel that one reason that she has adapted as well as she has in her foster home is because there are other dogs in the home.  She has become a part of the pack and feels comfortable living with them and following their example.  Now that Peach feels like part of her foster mom's pack, she will bark at strangers initially (with the pack), but she now allows them to pet her within a short period of time, will take treats while simultaneously growling and grumbling under her breath. She does require a fenced yard to play in, to sunbathe in, and to get her exercise in.  She isn’t a dog that will go on long walks with you.  For whatever reason, Peach is terrified of roads and associates sidewalks and driveways with roads, so is terrified of those as well.  She might improve over time but her adopter needs to understand that she will put on the brakes if you try to take her on a walk.

Peach’s ideal home would be with a patient, loving family with a little bit of silly mixed in, another dog or more (she also gets along well with her foster’s indoor cats), in a calm home with a fenced yard.  She is fine with older children that are slow and gentle as they get to know her. (She hasn’t had exposure to young children for us to be able to comment on to date.)

Peach  is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed.  Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Peach's adoption fee is $325.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Peach fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
