Meet Gordy

Hey everyone! My name is Gordy. My previous family didn't want me anymore and left me at a small rural shelter where cats have a super hard time finding a home....a strange man told me it would be even more difficult for me as I have been tested as FIV+. He said many people in that area didn't understand that FIV isn't a big deal when you're as friendly as me. You see FIV only spreads through deep cat bite wounds. I was shocked that anyone would think I would bite them! All I want is to hang out, get attention, and play with any sort of toy I can find! My foster mom asked this nice man if she could take me to her house to heal and find a home. I had a wound on my toe that made my nail fall off. It was very painful but now I am all better! Since I have settled in with my foster mom, I have learned that I don't mind dogs (as long as they aren't crazy and chase me), I try to be friends with the resident kitties but they're hard nuts to crack, one day they'll see how awesome I am, and people are my FAVORITE! I follow my foster family everywhere and talk while I'm doing it! We have some pretty good conversations. I LOVE to eat! Dog food, cat food, human food...it doesn't matter, it's all good to me!

Since my first few days at my new foster home I have settled in quite well! I FINALLY convinced the resident cat that I'm not all that bad AND she will play with me! I really love to play! I also am a professional grocery inspector for my foster parents. I check each bag to make sure they aren't trying to hide anything delicious from me! I've also learned the joy of windows! I like to sit in the window and "hunt" all the wildlife that comes onto my property! I'm hoping soon someone will come along and be the purrfect fit for me so I can have a forever home of my very own!

Now that you know all about my life, I'll give you more specific information about me. I am about 2 years old, neutered, and have 1 claw missing. I have medium length hair and I LOVE to have my humans brush me regularly. One of my eyes does not open all the way but the vet says that's just who I am, maybe I should have been named "Pirate"! Also, my foster mom has noticed I prefer the paper litter in my foster-bunny siblings litter box but the good news is that stuff is almost dust free! So less dust in your house meaning less cleaning for you and more petting for me!

If you have room in your home for me, please fill out an application! I'm anxiously awaiting my forever home!

Gordy is a 2 year old male who is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Gordy's adoption fee is $110.  If you are interested in meeting Gordy, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

  • Age-appropriate vaccines
  • Pre-adoption medical exam
  • A certificate for a free healthy pet exam at one of A.R.F.’s participating veterinarians within 7 days of adoption

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
