Hi, I’m Tonka, a 1-2 year old neutered male Boxer mix weighing 56 pounds. I’m a gentle, sweet boy that will adore you and your family. If you could build a dream family companion I would be your boy. I’m quiet, don’t jump on people or furniture, and don’t get into things, not even the open garbage cans or shoe rack! Although I do enjoy sniffing everything. I love car rides (so much I don’t want to get out) and I enjoy playing with other dogs. I walk well on a leash and I’m potty trained. I have a fun game I like to play with my feet that I’ll be happy to share with my new family.  Most of the time I can be found chilling nearby my family members, getting up to follow you if you move rooms. I LOVE people! I enjoy being by my humans’ side more than anything and look to them for comfort. I originally was a stray and get anxious if left alone for long. I’m looking to be a part of a family that has people home more often than not or another dog to keep me company.  I will go into a crate, but small rooms/spaces make me anxious. I correct easily as I’m smart and my biggest desire is to be loved by you! I enjoy back massages and have a ‘button’ right above my tail that really gets me waggin! My heart is HUGE and I hope you have room in yours for me.

Tonka is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered.  His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Tonka's adoption fee is $300.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Tonka fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
