Meet Tonka

Hi I’m Tonka, like the truck, like the indestructible toy, like the one you could play with all day and sit on and it didn’t matter. That’s me. I love to play using my feet. I have an irresistible smile. And, I’m silly. I love back massages and giving big kisses. Oh, and I love kids and other dogs, too. I really want someone to teach me all those cool words like my name, so I can wag my tail back and forth a whole bunch of times to tell you how happy it makes me. Also I like the word “sit,” cuz I learned it yesterday and got treats. I like to go outside to play and go potty. I’m figuring out if I ring the bell someone opens the door. Aren’t people smart? I love balls and chew toys. I like to sleep on a blanket near you while you relax or in my crate at night. Car rides are fine, even though they took me to the vet to get neutered. Leashes are okay, and I know how to walk with one clipped to my collar, not even a harness. I’m pretty strong and weighed 57 pounds at the vet! With all these great qualities, can you believe I was what they call a stray? I never want to be one of those again. Do you think you could keep that from happening to me? I will even try not to snore, although it’s really cute when I do.

Tonka is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered.  His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Tonka's adoption fee is $300.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Tonka fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If an animal is on our website, it is still available but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
