Welcome to ARF!

Animal Rescue Foundation -IL is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), no-kill humane society. Our family of volunteers is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and caring for homeless dogs and cats while we find them their forever homes. We promote spay/neuter programs to help reduce pet overpopulation and work within communities throughout Illinois to assist and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. As a proud participant in the nationwide “No More Homeless Pets” initiative our goal is to help bring about a time when all pets are valued and protected by their entire community.

Meet Chucky

Chucky came to ARF after his owner passed away and there was no one to care for him.  Chucky is a Fox Terrier Mix with wiry hair.  Here is what he would like you to know:

My name is Charlie .. I am a four year old healthy 20 pound male full of lots of fun … People says there’s a Fox Terrier Mix in me, perhaps because of my energy and traits .. Yeah, I know I have a little attitude toward other dogs .. in my defense, they can be a little intimidating, especially ones of similar size and bigger than me .. I feel better with smaller dogs most of the time, as long as they are nice .. You gotta love us terrible terriers, and you terrier people know what I mean (wink wink).  I would really like to be king of my own castle, and prefer not sharing my humans with other dogs.  I will give strong preference to interested applicants with previous terrier experience.   My most favorite times are when my human friend takes me on a walk, I can go all day.    At home, I am housebroken and sleep well in a crate. I am usually very chilled and relax, I prefer a quiet environment with grown up humans, as they usually understand me better. I listen to the grown up really well, they taught me a few tricks and I have earned a few ‘Good boy’ praises. They said I’m the best dog yet, which I tend to agree. I love them a lot, sometimes too much, especially if there are strangers unannounced that come to visit. My human friends usually let me know first if there are guests, and convince me that the guests are good people.    Although I would love to stay with my foster parents, it’s only a temporary home.  I would love to find me a nice family for my forever home .. Would you like to share the love with me?

Chucky is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered. His new family will be required to participate in training through A Sound Beginnings Program.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application. Meet Gabby

This beautiful little lady is rather shy. She definitely likes people, although she prefers her people to be the adult kind. She is new in her foster home, and her attitude may change as she becomes more comfortable, but for now it seems that she would like a home where she is the only pet.   Gabby is spayed, about 2 years old (as of May 2017), micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations, currently in a foster home, will be making appearances at ARF Adoption Events. Gabby's adoption fee is $110.

Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  Marisa's adoption fee is $275.
