Welcome to ARF!

Animal Rescue Foundation -IL is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), no-kill humane society. Our family of volunteers is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and caring for homeless dogs and cats while we find them their forever homes. We promote spay/neuter programs to help reduce pet overpopulation and work within communities throughout Illinois to assist and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. As a proud participant in the nationwide “No More Homeless Pets” initiative our goal is to help bring about a time when all pets are valued and protected by their entire community.

CAT Only Adoption Event!

We just added a Cat Only Adoption Event this Saturday, May 27 at the Darien PetSmart from 11:00 am -2:00 pm.  Come out and meet some great felines like Smokey and Grace (See their bios below).    Hope to see you there!

Meet smokey

Smokey is a gem and what a beauty with her Russian Blue looks! She is hoping you will take a shine to her and take her home.  She is super friendly, loving anyone and everyone.  She gets along with other cats and with dogs.  Smokey is spayed, about 5 years old (as of March 2017), micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations, currently in a foster home.  Smokey's adoption fee is $110.

A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application. If you are interested, please complete our an online application today! Filling out an application does not obligate you in any way. Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

Meet Grace

This pretty lady found herself at a Southern Illinois Animal Control in June. Because she had been there the longest, as soon as they got too crowded she was slated for euthanasia. The animal control officer did not want to see that happen to such a sweet girl, so she called ARF and pleaded for them to save Grace.  How could we say no? She is a pretty girl, but right now she is shy and afraid of other cats. She is fine with people and children, but will need time and patience if you are going to introduce her to other cats.  Grace is spayed, about 1 to 2 years old (as of August 2016), micro-chipped, up to date on vaccinations, currently in a foster home.  Her adoption fee is $110.

A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application. If you are interested, please complete our an online application today! Meet Griffen

Griffen, a border collie mix, is 2 years old and 26 pounds of love!  Griffen has come a long way since he came to ARF, his first 2 days were spent under a bed and now he thinks of himself as a watchdog and protector. Griffen is still shy at first, but he is a very smart little boy and warms up quickly. Griffen loves to run and needs a fenced yard and could use a friend to run with. He is good with small kids but we suggest that they should be at least 5 years old, just because he gets so excited and could jump or push a toddler.  He is jealous of cats and will charge at them to keep them away, so probably no cats for Griffin.  He is housetrained and does great left with free roam when his fosters are gone for 4-5 hours.   His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Griffen is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered.  Griffen's adoption fee is $250.

Meet Harriet

Hey hey it's Harriet! Introducing a sweet playful six to eight month old hound Mountain Cur mix. This sweet girl is around 27 pounds and is just a wonderful dog!  Harriet came to ARF when she was found abandoned and living with a pig. Harriet can catch frisbees and would make an excellent family dog. She gets along with all people, children, and dogs. We think she may be a little too interested in cats. Harriet would make a great walking or jogging buddy and we think she would make an excellent agility dog too! While Harriet knows how to play, she also knows how to lay down and be calm. She has very soulful eyes and interesting markings that make her look like a gazelle.  Come meet your newest family member!

Harriet is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and spayed.  Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  Harriet's adoption fee is $275.
