Welcome to ARF!

Animal Rescue Foundation -IL is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3), no-kill humane society. Our family of volunteers is dedicated to rescuing, fostering, and caring for homeless dogs and cats while we find them their forever homes. We promote spay/neuter programs to help reduce pet overpopulation and work within communities throughout Illinois to assist and educate the public about responsible pet ownership. As a proud participant in the nationwide “No More Homeless Pets” initiative our goal is to help bring about a time when all pets are valued and protected by their entire community.

Meet Tabitha

Tabitha wants nothing more than to be near you and receiving pets.  She is quick to turn on the purring machine.  She has unique coloring and is almost like a brindle coat.  She was a great mom to her 3 all black kittens but is more than ready to move on.  She will make anyone happy who is lucky enough to provide the forever home she is pining for.  Tabitha loves all people, old and young and is perfectly happy to share a home with a dog or two!! If you are interested in meeting Tabitha, you can fill out an an online application.  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting with the cat.  Filling out the application does not obligate you in any way. Meet Gabby

Gabby is a sweet 7-8 year old Rat Terrier whose mother was a long time ARF foster and volunteer. Gabby needs a new forever home because her mom passed away recently.  She is very affectionate and lives for nothing more than a scratch to her hips and to sleep under the covers next to you at night.  She has lived with other dogs and cats ever since she was adopted but it is her hearts desire to get all her person’s attention—or at least 60% of it.  At the time of writing this little bio, she is laying on her foster mom’s lap next to 3 other dogs and a cat.  She will bark when people come to the door.  If they come inside, then she continues to bark until they bend over and pet her.  She will run in the yard and play fetch, loves to “kill” her stuffed toys, and is just a wonderful dog whose life has taken an unexpected and tragic turn.  Please help her find a new home, a new family—no one saw this coming. Gabby is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed. Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Gabby's adoption fee is $250. A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Gabby

Meet Diablo and Boomerang

You know what that means? Somebody should adopt them both and keep them together. They'll have built in companionship when you're not home. Why have one great cat when you can have two, right?

If you are interested in meeting Diablo and Boomerang, stop the the Darien PetSmart  during store hours.

Meet Philip

Philip, nicknamed Chip by his foster family, is a 1-2 year old neutered male Whippet mix who weighs in at 22 pounds. He is a playful little guy who would do best in a home as the only dog, but does ok with other dogs when introduced slowly. Philip is friendly with his humans friends. He is very playful with known family and friends' children of any age. He listens well, knows how to sit, give paw, and takes treats gently.

Philip is a protector  - especially to his loving human family; thus any ‘strangers’ coming unannounced to the house would need to be introduced slowly to him in order to get properly acquainted. Philip sleeps in a crate at night and wanders the house during the day.  He loves listening to classical as well as jazz music by himself at home.  Philip entertains himself with many dog toys, he loves chew toys - especially the ones that squeak! Philip is an intelligent dog, he loves solving dog puzzle toys, and he guarantees he can crack any challenge given to him especially if there’s a reward in the end! Once tired of playing, he is happy to nap on the couch or at your feet, or even better if he can cuddle up by your side. He does well in a car and loves going along for rides. Outside the house, he loves to chase squirrels and will greet any passing neighbors and friendly humans along the way.  Philip is a loving and happy dog with a lot of love to give a lucky family out there! He is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered. His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing. Phillip's adoption fee is $200.  He is a good boy and although he is loving his time at his foster home, he can't wait to find his forever family.   A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Philip fill out an online application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting. Check out this additional video of Philip playing with his toy!
