Meet Butter Pecan
Hi, I’m Butter Pecan, and I’m hoping you might be the person I’ve been waiting for.
I’m a handsome 3-year-old boy who was rescued from DuPage County. I may not be able to tell you everything about where I’ve been or what my life looked like before rescue, but what I can tell you is that I’m safe now, surrounded by people who care about me, and ready to find a home where I can finally settle in and know that I belong.
One thing you should know about me is that I LOVE to play. Bring out a wand toy and you’ll definitely have my attention. If it rolls across the floor, even better. Balls, rolling toys, anything I can chase around and turn into my own little game is right up my alley. I’d love a family who will spend time playing with me and letting my fun, curious personality shine.
I also do well with other cats, so I wouldn’t mind having a feline sibling to play with and keep me company. Dogs are still a little bit of an unknown for me, but my rescue friends believe that with patience and a slow, proper introduction, I could learn to share my home with one too.
Right now, I’m staying at PetSmart in Naperville, patiently waiting for someone to stop and give me a chance. Maybe you’ll come in just to grab some cat food. Maybe you’ll tell yourself you’re “just looking.” And then you’ll see me, watch me play, and realize you may have just met your new best friend.
Being rescued was the beginning of my second chance. Now I’m ready for the part where I find a family, a home filled with toys to chase, and people who will love me for the rest of my life.
Come meet me at PetSmart Naperville. I’ll be waiting... and if you bring out a wand toy, we might become best friends even faster.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
