Meet Mandy

Mandy is a 3-year-old DLH Tortie whose story is layered with misunderstanding, but at her core, she is a deeply loving cat. She was surrendered due to behavior and later returned after five months in a home, but the team at DuPage County has seen firsthand just how affectionate and sweet she truly is. Sometimes, the wrong environment can bring out stress behaviors… but that does not define who Mandy is.

When given the right space and understanding, Mandy shows her true self, a gentle, loving companion who wants connection just as much as any other cat. She has so much love to give, but she needs someone who is willing to be patient, to listen to her needs, and to allow her to settle in at her own pace. Cats like Mandy don’t need perfection, they need compassion and consistency.

Mandy would do best as the only pet in the home, where she can feel secure and not overwhelmed by other animals. A calm, structured environment will allow her to decompress and rebuild trust. Proper introductions and slow transitions are essential, especially for cats who have experienced multiple changes, as it helps prevent stress and allows their true personality to come through. She is currently at PetSmart in Naperville, waiting for someone who will see beyond her past and choose her for the loving cat she truly is.

Mandy is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations,  spayed, and litter box trained.

Mandy's adoption fee is $ 135.  If you are interested in meeting Mandy, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
