Meet Rita
Meet Rita
Rita’s story began on one of the coldest days of the winter. During a snowstorm, a local car repair shop owner was closing up early when he heard a faint cry. Outside, he discovered a small cat encased in ice, desperately trying to survive the freezing temperatures. When Rita arrived at the shelter, staff weren’t sure they would be able to warm her up fast enough to save her—but this brave girl had other plans. Rita pulled through like a champion and has been melting hearts ever since.
Now that she’s safe and warm, Rita has shown everyone what a loving, affectionate sweetheart she truly is. She absolutely adores people and is happy to be picked up and carried around like the little queen she is. One of her favorite places to be is tucked into your neck, gently sniffing your ear and soaking up all the cuddles. If you’re looking for a snuggly companion, Rita is ready for the job.
Rita is also quite the conversationalist. She’ll happily chat with you about her day and reward you with lots of purrs and sweet little meows. Her affectionate personality makes her a joy to be around.
She gets along well with other cats and would do just fine with a calm, respectful dog with slow introductions. Mostly, Rita is just looking for a home where she can stay warm, safe, and loved forever.
After everything she’s been through, Rita truly deserves a family who will cherish her. If you’re ready for a snuggly, chatty, ice-queen-turned-lovebug, Rita might be the perfect addition to your home.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
