Meet Kayl
There are some cases in animal rescue work that will stay with you forever. Kayl is one of those special cases. Kayl is here today because of the kind ARF volunteers working around the clock to fundraise, the generous donors, Wheaton Animal Hospital’s vets and support team, and the care of his foster family.
Kayl came to ARF from CACC as a last-ditch effort to save his life. He appeared to us as an emaciated cat who weighed way less than he should. He also had massive hair loss on his back, a bad upper respiratory infection, and weepy eyes. The worst part was that the bloodwork from Wheaton Animal Hospital showed that Kayl’s kidneys and liver were struggling and he had a lot of inflammation in his body. But Kayl was young and a fighter and we knew we had to try to get him back to health. Wheaton Animal Hospital worked closely with Ann, ARF’s president, to find the best treatment for Kayl to help save his life.
The vet team started Kayl on steroids and fluids, to help keep his inflammation down and keep him hydrated. He was brought back to the vet clinic weekly for exams and repeat bloodwork. After 2 months of treatment, Kayl’s bloodwork improved significantly and he is back to being a normal cat. His hair has fully grown back and his bloodwork looks great.
Kayl is a 4-year old, brown and white tabby cat who has fought through battles that no cat should have to face. Kayl loves wet food, dry food, and churus. He is a big fan of snuggles. You will often see him curled into a ball, sleeping on towels, blankets, cat beds, or in little cat huts. He loves to be around body heat so he’ll be certain to cozy up next to you in bed. Kayl has a calm and affectionate personality and enjoys being around people who love him. He is a huge fan favorite with the ARF volunteers as he has been a trooper through daily fluids, medications, and veterinary exams.
Through all of the treatments, Kayl told us that he wasn’t giving up and now he has the opportunity to be just like every other cat. He is looking for a loving home that will give him plenty of attention, cuddles, and companionship.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
