Meet Roberto

Meet Roberto — but please call him Rumpie, as he does not prefer his “government” name.

Rumpie is what happens when a sweet old soul gets reincarnated into a handsome 4-year-old cat. He appreciates routine, values a good nap, and prefers to supervise your daily life like a tiny furry manager. If something interesting is happening during his scheduled snooze time? He will absolutely delay his rest to investigate. Missing out is simply not an option.

Originally discovered living outdoors, Rumpie still carries a bit of that wild genius with him, as he has lightning-fast reflexes, superhero-level awareness, and the instincts of a master hunter. (Legend says he once handled a mouse situation in under 30 seconds. Efficient king.) Despite this athletic résumé, he’s definitely not a nonstop zoomie machine. He enjoys short bursts of play followed by long, luxurious naps, ideally pressed against his favorite humans.

And yes… he is a cuddle bug. But trust is everything to Rumpie, and once you earn it, you unlock premium snuggle privileges. He’s a lap cat at heart, often choosing to settle beside or on top of you.

Rumpie is friendly, though might be shy at first, because he hates being in a crate, and he communicates clearly. He prefers head pets, and while he sometimes allows belly access, that privilege is granted at his discretion. He’s quick to give polite feedback if something isn’t his favorite, not to hurt, but to say, “That’s enough, please.” An adopter who understands and respects cat communication will see this as one of his strengths, not flaws.

He entertains himself well, adapts easily to busy homes, and isn’t bothered by everyday noise. He’s litter box perfect, enthusiastic about meals (with evolving culinary preferences, currently Team Sheba Chicken), and keeps himself nicely groomed with minimal shedding.

Because of his quick reflexes and strong instincts, Rumpie would do best in a home with adults or older, cat-savvy kids who understand boundaries. He has shown some curiosity around other animals, but very very slow, thoughtful introductions would be extremely important, especially with small pets that might accidentally activate his inner hunter.

His foster family adores him and is committed to finding the perfect home where he’ll be cherished, understood, and loved for the one-of-a-kind cat he is. Rumpie isn’t just looking for a home, he’s looking for his forever people. And whoever they are… they’re very lucky.

Roberto is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Roberto's adoption fee is $135.  Please note A.R.F. does not approve applications for any cat to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.

If you are interested in meeting Roberto, please fill out our  online cat adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/ today!

Once your application has been approved, an A.R.F. volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
