Meet Diego

Diego is a 4-6 year old male Shepherd mix who weighs in at 31 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $450.  If you are still interested, please read more below.

Hi my name is Diego and I made my way up here from Texas. The vet says I am between 4-6 years old, but my foster mom thinks I act a lot younger as I still have some puppy energy! I like to play with my toys, Kong and run and chase balls in the backyard.  I get along great with my foster siblings, I don’t steal away their toys and have not shown any food aggression when it’s dinner time. I just want to play but they are older and not interested in playing. Check me out playing with a puppy at one of the adoption events in the profile video!

I am housebroken and I hardly shed! I sleep in my crate at night. During the day my foster mom lets me roam the house and I haven’t caused any issues even when she leaves for a couple of hours. I do get very excited when I see other dogs in the neighborhood or on walks, but I’m not aggressive even though I have a loud bark, I just want to say hi! I also like to chase squirrels and bunnies!

Diego is a smart boy, who is easy to train with praise and treats. He knows “sit”, “down” and “gentle”.  He will need additional help with jumping, walking and controlling his excitement when he sees other dogs. He tends to be shy at first, but will get along with kids and cats.

Diego has been treated for heartworm and is back to his old self with no lasting affects to his health – so come and see him at the next adoption event!

Diego is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and neutered.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
