Meet Colby
Colby is a snuggly, gentle, loving companion kitty who is looking for his furever home.
Colby was found as a part of a Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR) program in Chicago. This is why Colby has an ear-tip. He was returned outside after being neutered, but two weeks later he decided the outdoor life was not for him, and begged an ARF foster to bring him inside. Colby was dirty, beat up, thin, and had an upper respiratory infection. Colby healed up quick. During Colby’s glow-up, his fosters learned more about his awesome personality.
Colby’s demeanor is laid back and sweet. He loves to be pet, picked up, and snuggled. He shows affection by “head-butting” you and rubbing up on your legs. If you are in the room, he wants to sit on your lap, or immediately next to you. If he’s on a soft blanket, he will quickly get to work making biscuits.
Colby is a great eater, and is appreciative of wet and dry food. Colby enjoys all toys, including catnip toys. He has a horizontal cardboard scratcher that he likes but we think he’d like to have something vertical too.
Colby’s foster home has a cat tree that he loves to sit on to look out the window and oversee the backyard. He loves to keep an eye on things! Colby growls at the neighbor’s dog. For that reason we think Colby would do best in a home without dogs. Colby would thrive as an only cat with lots of attention, and could be with another cat with a proper, very slow introduction. Colby has been around older kids and we think he would do well with young kids too. He’s very patient.
Colby has the most soft fur, and beautiful orange eyes that he uses to stare deeply into your soul (but in a good way). He just wants to be loved! See more photos and videos of Colby @hoteldenny.
Colby is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.
Colby’s adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting Colby, please fill out our Online Application today!
Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
