Meet Miles

Miles is a 6 month old male chocolate brown Schnauzer who weighs in at 10 pounds.  This pup's adoption fee is $1050.  If you are still interested, please read more below.

Hello from 6-month-old Miles, an adorable, miniature chocolate brown Schnauzer!

I am soft and sweet, and am perfectly “fun size” at just 10 pounds

--but is also important to know that I am still somewhat scared around people, and I will require a special home that will care for me with loads of patience and love. Because I am still coming out of my shell, I can only go to a family with children if the kids are respectful and over 10 years old. It is also a must that my forever home has a fully fenced/secure yard, as doggies like me are “flight risks”, and need to be kept safe and protected.

Speaking of that fully fenced/secure yard, I really enjoy scampering about in my foster’s yard, and when the weather is nice, I spend lots of time outside sniffing and playing with the other mild-mannered doggies at my foster home. I also know to potty outside and am doing great with my housetraining. Foster mom and dad are very proud of me and of all my progress!

In a perfect world, I would prefer a doggie friend in my new home—you know, a furry pal with whom I can bond and share a kindred canine spirit! I make doggie friends easily, and my bestie now is the resident Chihuahua at my foster home. I really love hanging out with a doggie bud to make me feel safe. I do also like to be near my foster mom cuddling in a doggie bed or in a big, open crate (my safe space) while she is working from home. Therefore, if I will be the only dog in my new house, I will require someone who works from home (or retired) so that I am not scared being alone or feeling totally abandoned again.

I have all the makings of a loving little doggie pal, and I promise to be a loyal companion to that special someone who is willing to be patient and earn my total trust. Might that special person be you?

Love, Miles

This pup is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, and neutered. The new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Please note ARF does not approve applications for any puppy under 6 months of age to families that live outside of Illinois and/or beyond 100 miles of Wheaton or Glen Ellyn, IL.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting this pup fill out an online application today!  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.  ARF is an all volunteer organization.  Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved.  Thank you for your patience!

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
