Meet Ted
Hello from adorable 12 pound precious TED! I am a vision-impaired loving little soul with a sad little tale, as I was abandoned in Alabama, but luckily found my way to ARF. I know someone has been praying to meet me, love me and make me their new best friend! Could it be you? PLEASE READ ENTIRE BIO
Yes, I look like a sophisticated Theodore, and I am soft and cuddly like a Teddy bear, however, I am a great listener and DO respond to “Ted”. This is important to know, because I am blind and will follow your voice and movements when you call me. I am a pretty easy-going fellow overall, however, I do need a special home that will give me the TLC and extra guidance I need, as I do bump into things and rely on my other senses—including my senses of hearing and smell which are both very acute.
That all being said, I know my way around my foster’s home and yard pretty well, although sometimes I find myself getting lost even in the secure, fenced backyard. So, no sharp corners/furniture edges or lots of stairs for me—I need a safe home, just as if it were “baby-proofed” for a toddler. Again, although I am supervised when outside, I love to sniff around when outdoors, so a completely fenced and secure yard is a must for my new home. (Only respectful children 12 and older, too, please).
More great news is that I have been estimated to be only around 4 years old, and I am a most joyful, loving dog! I enjoy resting in my doggie bed right next to my foster Mom while she is working from home, and I love to play with stuffed dog toys and shake them around gleefully. I love people and enjoy being cuddled with on the couch—which I can even jump up onto all by myself! I also like the companionship of other mild-mannered dogs that will not take advantage of my disability, but will instead look to me as a loving, valued pack member. In addition, I get along with all of the small dogs in my foster home, and we peacefully co-exist. I am a good eater, but must be supervised when fed so that other dogs will not see my food and think that I need help finishing, because I have a good appetite and eat very well. A gentle dog to guide me in my new home will also be considered.
I also have a special foster “brother” named Kenneth--a friendly 3 year old, 15 pound chiweenie who came from Alabama with me-- and we wouldn’t mind being adopted out to the same lucky home, however, we can be split up as long as I receive lots of love and attention if on my own. (Note: Kenneth has tested heartworm positive and is successfully undergoing treatment, so he won’t be available until mid-October; Ted is available now).

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
