Meet Chickpea & Shades (bonded pair)

Shades is the momma cat of this amazing bonded pair.  She is a beautiful black and white girl and just as friendly as can be.  She is very affectionate and will walk right up to anyone for pets and love.  She loves to be brushed and enjoys playing with toys.  She enjoys spending time with her people and would make a great companion and lap cat.  She would love a nice window that she can look out of and watch the world go by.

Chickpea is the baby, although he is a little bigger than his momma.  He is a shy guy, but really enjoys chin scratches and lots of pets.  It may take him a little while to warm up, but with his mom nearby, it probably won't take him long.  Once he settles in, you'll see how much of a love bug he is.  He also enjoys being brushed.

Both Shades and Chickpea were a bit overfed by their previous owner and would love a new family that can help get them into a healthy lifestyle.  Needless to say, they are great eaters and are not picky in the least.  They would do great in a quieter home so that Chickpea can come out of his shell quicker, but they would really do well in any home with kids of any age.  They previously lived with other cats and would do fine with other feline companions.  They have not had any experience with dogs, so would probably do best in a cat home.

Shades and Chickpea currently reside at the Wheaton PetSmart at 53 Rice Lake Square.  Come by and check them out.  They can't wait for you to come in and give them love!

Chickpea and Shades are micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed/neutered and litter box trained. The combined adoption fee for Chickpea and Shades is $270 ($135 x2). If you are interested in meeting Chickpea and Shades, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
