Meet Sophie
I’m a beautiful, affectionate Black Cat and my name is SOPHIE. A store cage is super stressful – I’m really not at my best here. Too many strange cats too close. I don’t know why I’m here or what’s going to happen to me. I did much better in a foster home, but as a Black Cat I need to be here and seen to get adopted. I am a Lap Cat with enough independence to keep me from being a ‘velcro cat.’ Love perching in my cat tree, win-dow-watching, playing with a ball tower, and chasing a laser light. Not crazy about being picked up (quite capable of getting around on my own), and cranky if you wake me from my nap. Not a good choice for kids under 10. Companionship always welcome, as is petting .. and food! I’m a big fan of Fancy Feast canned food, Greenies, and Temptations. Love to climb, so a tall cat tree would be amazing. Great with my litter box, but please remind me now and then where to scratch. Happy to be just you and me. The sooner you get me out of here, the sooner we can get to know each other!
Sophie can be seen at Pet Supplies Plus (720 E. Roosevelt Rd, Naperville).
Sophie is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and litter box trained. Sophie's adoption fee is $135. If you are interested in meeting Sophie, please fill out our Online Application today! Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.
We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.
A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit all of our animals. The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.
If you’re invited to meet an animal:
- Plan to arrive early, as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
- All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.
Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
