Meet Princeton (4 Paw Declaw)

I LOVE people. I want to be hanging out with you. Even when I'm napping, I may wake up and come find you if you left me alone. If you hide from me, I'll knock on the door or camp out right next to it waiting for you. I'm a snuggler. If you sit, I'll seek out your lap or lay beside you. If you lay down, I'll be right over. My favorite place is tucked in under your arm. I think there's nothing better in the world than cozying up to my humans. Just please don't pick me up. I prefer to have all 4 paws on the floor. I will take your invitation to jump up if you tap on your lap for me.

I MELT for cheek and chin scratches....especially since I don't have nails to scratch an itch. I'll also flip your hand up with my nose to let you know I need pets. And all while purring non-stop.

Speaking of that, play with me...but use your hands at your own risk. You see, I'm a 4 paw declawed fella. My original humans thought it was a good idea. It's not ok, but I've forgiven them. They didn't realize that without any claws I must use my chompers to catch anything. Beware, I play pretty darn hard. If you want to interactive play, I do like to swat at a string but only for a few minutes at a time. I get a little bored since I can't hold on to it. I have a stuffed bear that I'll move about the house much like an elf on the shelf. I'm stealthy about it. My foster parents have yet to see me do this. I'll pose him as if he's eating or drinking from my bowl. I've even sat him up to greet you when you open the door. I'll also request a catnip stuffed chili pepper if I get a whiff. I just love to show off my bunny kick.

I love the outdoors too. I enjoy watching the leaves dropping and sniffing at the outdoor smells. I understand that I shouldn't be outside, due to my claw condition, but I'll still plan an escape. I'm crazy quick for my age and I'll dart out the door on you in a nanosecond. Know where I am before you open the door to leave...otherwise I'll be wrestling and biting your shoe in protest as you block my path. Which also reminds me, we should talk about my communication skills. I chirp here and again but I like to scoff and growl. Mom calls me a grumpy lover. It usually means I want to play -- odd I know, but it's me. I do the same to protest when I don't get my way. Just give me 5-10 minutes of space and I'll get over it. I'm a senior, it just takes me a little longer to re-mood.

My fosters really want to adopt me. Sadly, I love them too much to share them with their 2 girl kitties -- which are half my age mind you. I'm really looking for a single pet household to be my happiest and give you all my attention.

  • Pre-adoption medical exam
  • A certificate for a free healthy pet exam at one of A.R.F.’s participating veterinarians within 7 days of adoption

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
