This is Barney!

Barney is ready to be your best friend. This little guy is everything you’d want in a kitten – he loves to snuggle and give kisses, but he also will play like crazy! Barney (or Barnum or Barnabee or Barnacle or any other variation that his foster mom coos at him) will purr the moment you scoop him up. He likes to say hello and let you know if he wants some more of your loving, and he will rub up on your face to give you a kitty hug.

Barney is an expert at catching the feather from a wand toy! Even when his foster mom tries hard to keep it away, Barney will launch himself up, grab the feather, and then smugly walk away with it – pulling the whole wand out of his foster mom’s hand! Barney is always ready to play and is creative in finding toys. One time, Barney found a zip tie to play with…the little weirdo pushed it around and went crazy having fun with it, then proudly carried it around to entice his siblings to play with it too!

Barney is wonderful with children. He has met a toddler and was very patient in letting her pick him up any which way she wanted to. He was just happy getting attention! Barney is also very brave and curious. As long as proper introductions are made, Barney will fit in with any family.

Barney is a dog friendly kitten. He met his foster mom's 85 pound golden retriever very briefly. He was a little scared (like ANY cat will be to start!), but then he was very curious! He was following the dog around to check him out and sniff him. Within twenty minutes, Barney jumped right up on the couch next to the dog without a second thought. After watching the dog play with a tennis ball, Barney batted one around several different times until he convinced the dog to get up and follow him! When the dog went back to lay down, Barney did it again! With proper introductions and time to get to know each other, Barney would love a respectful canine sibling.

Barney has a whole lot of love to give and has not liked being a solo cat since his siblings have been adopted, so he is looking for a home with another kitty and with a family ready to give him a lot of attention!

Barney is a 14 week old male (as of 9/10/20) who is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Barney's adoption fee is $150.  If you are interested in meeting Barney, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
