Meet Ivy

Oh the stories Ivy could tell – if only she could talk! Ivy came to ARF on the day she was found in Joliet and she was in labor! Sadly her babies were not full term and did not survive.  Ivy had also been in a fight with an animal and her face had a large wound on it. This poor girl needed some TLC in a major way! Our vets got Ivy fixed up and she went off to her foster home with a line of stitches on her face.

10 days later, when Ivy was set to return to the vet to have the stitches removed, she escaped from her foster home and was missing for 13 days! We never gave up hope and after posting about her on social media, and putting flyers all around town, we got the call that she had been seen – they knew it was her because of the stitches on her face. 2 days later we were able to catch her and she is back safe and sound! I’m sure she could tell quite the tale of her time outdoors!

In her first foster home, Ivy did well with children. However she may do better in a home with older kids or no kids. We don’t know if she will again want to bolt outside, and a home where the doors are watched closely and not left open would be a better choice for her. A GPS collar may not be a bad idea either :).

Ivy is thought to be around one year old and is just delightful. She is friendly and playful and engaging. She loves to be petted! She enjoys head rubs and scratches along her chin especially.

Ivy is great with her scratching post and does very well with getting her nails trimmed. Ivy

may NOT BE DECLAWED. Please do not apply if you wish to declaw.

Ivy is currently in a foster home and we can arrange a socially distant meeting with any approved applicant. You can check out fb.com/Kittenville.il where her foster mom has documented her time in foster care.

Ivy is a one year old female who is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, spayed, and litter box trained.

Ivy's adoption fee is $95.  If you are interested in meeting Ivy, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
