Meet Duchess

Hello, my name is Duchess.  I also go by chaser of string, catcher of toy mice, and destroyer of feather toys. I was born into the royal cat family, the Pawtagues, as Princess Mimi. However, I was whisked away by the enemies of my family, the Catulets, and was dumped on the streets. I survived by being observant and crafty, relying on my beauty to coax my human victims into giving me the freshest cans of food. When I was about seven months old, I fell in love. A young male cat named Sir Thomas O’Malley, who also learned to survive like I had. As I would come to learn, Thomas got into trouble. A lot. He even caught the attention of some human mobsters. They cornered us in an alley, and shot a BB pellet right at Thomas. I jumped in front of him, catching the BB in my right arm. I currently still have a limp from my battle wound. But it was all worth it. I was pregnant a few months later. Thomas and I were over joyed. But we caught the attention of some worried humans. They came to find us. Thomas and I ran underneath a fence, but because of my pregnant belly, I got stuck, and while Thomas was crying for me, I was loaded onto an ARF transport. I was so worried, but on April 23rd, I came into my new foster home. Four days later I gave birth to five beautiful kittens, and saw Thomas in every one of them. I was dubbed Duchess, after they discovered my royalty (I couldn’t hide how regal I am). And so, I have been waiting here, watching my children, each a prince and princess in their own rights, raising and preparing them to rule and conquer their new kingdoms. I am now ready for my kingdom, ready to handle any and all cat related business worthy of a duchesses touch

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
