Meet Bagheera

Bagheera is presented as a wise figure. Level-headed and intelligent, the panther is amongst the most down-to-earth residents of the jungle. When first introduced, he is seen as a selfless and caring individual, rescuing the orphaned Mowgli, and going out of his way to ensure his safety from that moment forward. Although he cares a great deal about the man-cub, Bagheera is also easily frustrated and intolerable of tomfoolery.

Okay, okay - you caught me! That’s the description of Bagheera from Jungle Book. I can’t help it! It fits so well! Bagheera is a beautiful cat! And while he isn’t a real panther (sorry folks!), we like to call him our “house panther.” Bagheera is very loving and wants nothing more than to cuddle up with a human, flop over dramatically, and get some side scratches. He is not easily frustrated but he would prefer that you stop messing around and give him lots of attention. He is a talkative fellow and likes to remind you when you’re not giving him the attention that he needs. He is very gentle and would be okay in a home with children. He came to our home after having been in a shelter where he wasn’t eating. He had been in a home before that and the shelter can be a scary place - even for a house panther (don’t worry though! He’s been chowing down here!). That being said, we have slowly let him meet our resident male & female cats as he has de-stressed and he does well. He’s a bit more hesitant with our dogs but he would likely do well with proper introductions to a well-mannered pup!

Bagheera is a 1 year old male who is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, neutered, and litter box trained.

Bagheera's adoption fee is $110.  If you are interested in meeting Bagheera, please fill out our Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will be able to contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
