Meet Half Pint (NO MORE APPLICATIONS)

***NO MORE APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED***

Half Pint is a 6-8 year old neutered male Yorkie who weighs in at 9 pounds.  He came to us from Chicago Animal Care and Control. When his foster mom first saw him, she knew that he was not only adorable but also a sweet little dog, and that he could not be left in the kennel surrounded by large barking dogs. His foster mom immediately contacted ARF-IL so she could ensure his safety. On his initial post, the city shelter indicated that he urgently needed medical attention. That same day she went to pick him up and take him to the vet. At his first vet visit, we found out just how bad of shape he was in. All of his teeth needed to be removed due to severe infection and we learned just how bad his perineal hernia was. Our regular veterinarian worked to quickly schedule him for the teeth extractions that were urgently needed and recommended that we contact a specialist nearby. Upon calling the specialist, the rescue learned that the surgery would be costly but instead of ending Half Pints life too soon, the rescue began looking for solutions to ensure his surgery was completed. Luckily, after finding a specialist to take on his severe hernia, he had surgery, and has healed perfectly! With fewer teeth, more pounds, and a fixed hernia, Half Pint is now ready to tackle another achievement that all foster animals dream of, finding their forever home. Half Pint is an energetic little man, but once he picks his favorite human he follows them everywhere and loves to cuddle and binge watch some tv. Most of his days are spent laying with his foster mom and sleeping. He can be a bossy little guy, telling the other dogs to leave his cat friends alone. He is both cat and dog friendly. His foster family thinks that he will be happier in a calmer house, though he can adjust to anything life throws at him. There is a possibility that he will need laxatives for the rest of his life, to make sure that he doesn’t get another hernia. Overall, he is a cute, sweet little man that just wants someone to love and cuddle. Are you willing to be his forever family?

Half Pint is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and neutered.  His new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Half Pint's adoption fee is $300.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Half Pint fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
