Meet Sophia

Sophia (aka Sophie)

is a 4 year old, 30 pound, female terrier mix who just can’t get enough lovin’ and attention. She is very affectionate and loves meeting new people and new doggy friends. Sophie

can be a little timid at first and will sometimes bark at unfamiliar people but she warms up quickly and wants to be friends with everyone. Loud and unexpected noises sometimes startle her but she is fine once she realizes the noise isn’t a threat.

Sophie is a cuddle bug who enjoys snoozing on the couch, big chairs, cozy dog beds, or her blanket on the floor. She especially likes to lay right up against her foster family and is most happy when everyone is home and in the same room with her. She will nuzzle her face into you and nudge your hand when she’s not getting pets. Sophie also loves stuffed toys that she can try to pull apart or play tug with and she is discovering new toys all the time.

Sophie currently sleeps in the bedroom with her fosters, alternating between her dog bed and on the bed between her fosters. She generally stays in the spot where she goes to sleep until awoken in the morning. She isn’t crazy about being left alone but does not destroy things when left and she has done well both in a crate or left out. Sophie is housebroken but may have the occasional accident initially until she gets used to her new home and routine. She walks very well on a leash, pulling only occasionally when something really grabs her attention. She loves to sniff everything along her walk but will also trot along without stopping if you just keep her moving.

Sophie has been recently treated for heartworm, and after an initial period of rest, she will have no negative effects to her health.

Sophie has minimal shedding due to her wirey coat. She does have luxating patellas, which just means her knee caps move to the side. It does not slow her down or hurt her, but her new human(s) must watch her weight carefully as extra weight can aggravate them.

Sophie would do well in a home with children of any age and other pets though she would also be fine as an only dog, especially since she loves having all the attention.

Sophia is micro-chipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken and spayed.  Her new family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.

Sophia's adoption fee is $400.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you're interested in adopting Sophia fill out an Online Application today!

Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.

If a cat or dog is on our website, it is still available for adoption but might have other applicants. If you find yourself interested in one of our animals, submit a no-commitment application immediately. Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions until your application has been approved in approximately 3-5 business days.

We do not schedule meetings until you have an approved application.

A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals.  The majority of our dogs and cats are brought to adoption events by our volunteers. We invite everyone to come to our events, but we give priority to pre-approved applicants.

If you’re invited to meet an animal:

  • Plan to arrive on time (or early), as we cannot hold animals for any reason.
  • All human household members and dogs (if adopting another dog), must be present in order to be considered as a potential adopter.

Thank you for your interest and cooperation!
