Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF) appreciates and acknowledges all donations to support its programs and services. Contributions are frequently received in memory of human family and friends as well as animal companions. Volunteer Your Time ARF appreciates any amount of time you can spare to help the animals.  We have many opportunities where you can have direct impact. Temporary Care Provide Temporary Care for our animals by opening up your home.  Since we have no facility, all of our animals are cared for in homes.  You can provide foster care for cats, kittens, puppies or dogs.  ARF provides all the supplies, all you need to provide is the TLC the animal needs until they find their forever home.  Transporting Animals Many of our animals are rescued from area kill-shelters so in many cases we must make arrangements to meet the animals at certain drop-off points and then transport them to our veterinarian in Wheaton.  It’s a very rewarding feeling knowing you are taking the animal to the place where it will find a loving home. Our animals also need assistance going to the veterinary appointments.  You can assist by volunteering to pick them up at our PetSmart location or at a temporary care home and transporting them to our veterinarian in Wheaton.  These are daytime transportations, typically between the hours of 12 pm and 5 pm. Adoption Events We always need help handling animals at our adoption events.  These are typically a 3 hour commitment on a Saturday and held in the Glen Ellyn / Wheaton area.  Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. PetSmart Cat Adoption Center Many of our cats are onsite at PetSmart in Wheaton.  We need volunteers who can give of their time to care for these cats.  The care consists of spending time socializing the cats and cleaning their spaces at PetSmart.  You can do this once a week, once a month, during the day or in the evenings, whatever fits your life schedule.  This is such a rewarding opportunity.  Many of our volunteers use this time to unwind at the end of a busy days.  Our cats never talk back and love to hear about how hard your day was!  Temporary Care Supplies ARF temporary care homes are always in need of items to help provide the animals the best possible care. These items include, but are not limited to: High quality dog food, Royal Canin or Nutro is preferred (dog and/or puppy) High quality cat food, Royal Canin is preferred (cat and/or kitten)  Paper towels / Gently used cloth towels Chew toys for puppies that can be washed  Rawhide bones, Kong toys, ANY and ALL kinds of KONG toys  Leashes Collars (all sizes)  Liquid bleach, HE (High Efficiency) laundry detergent, and dish detergent  Garbage bags in 13 and 30 gallon sizes  Disposable latex surgical gloves  Donate a Kuranda! Our dogs and cats love to sleep on Kuranda beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog or cat to sleep in comfort, please donate a Kuranda bed.
